Zach is a PhD candidate in Geography at the University of Washington in Seattle. His research contributes to the fields of cultural geography, STS (science and technology studies), polar studies, and the environmental humanities. Originally from the southtowns of Buffalo, New York, Zach lived in Albany, Cape Town, and Nashville before moving to Seattle. He enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and skiing.
